ABOUT THIS CLASS

Enrol for a six-week term of pottery classes where award-winning ceramic artist Frances Smith will guide you through the fun and creativity of making pottery. In small classes, Fran will give you individual attention to help you create functional pots or pieces of ceramic art.

Who is this class for?

Whether you are a beginner or have some experience, Fran will guide you through the next steps to make creative and practical works from clay. Over the six-week course, Frances will take newcomers through the pottery process from forming a shape from wet clay, drying it and then turning the leather-hard clay ready for the first bisque kiln firing. Then she’ll show you how to decorate your piece with colourful glazes, and finally, Fran will load the kiln and fire your works.

What do you need to bring?

We will supply you with all the pottery tools you will need, as well as an apron and a work towel. Just bring yourself and your ticket (which we will send to you when you have enrolled). You will have up to 10 kilograms of clay which is fired in our kilns each term. We also supply our standard glazes for your use during the class. Additional clay, glazes, and kiln use can be purchased if needed.

Covid-19 Requirements

The NSW State Government has eased restrictions for fully vaccinated people. We have updated our Covid 19 plan as required by regulation.

If you are feeling unwell, please do NOT attend the class.

PLEASE NOTE
Please remember that Kiama Ceramic Art Studio courses operate on a term basis, just like TAFE courses. Terms begin on a set day and end on a set day*.

* In exceptional cases, you may be allowed to make up a missed day. Please talk with Fran regarding your circumstances.
