Large tenmoku-glazed black ceramic vessel that has been thrown and altered into a sinuous form. Blue recycled denim creates a woven ‘collar’ which has been threaded through the pierced holes in the top of the vessel.

Large tenmoku-glazed black ceramic vessel that has been thrown and altered into a sinuous form. Artistically braided recycled denim thread is woven into a wreath-like collar.  This is a collaboration with a talented fibre artist who has expertly woven the denim through the pierced holes in the top of the vessel to create an eclectic blue collar.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Frances Smith is an accomplished Australian ceramic artist and teacher. She is academically trained with degrees and diplomas in graphic design and ceramic arts. Formerly head of design for the Seven Network and working for many TV and production companies, she now lives and works in the beautiful NSW seaside village of Kiama.
