About this item:
Combining unique style and practical usability, our studio's "White on White" range of vases are perfect display vessels. They look great whether they are full of your favourite blooms or as a decorative feature piece for a shelf or sideboard. Each vase is based on a classic vase shape design. They are hand-thrown by the artist on her pottery wheel from a lovely yellowish speckled clay body. The floral-themed design is hand-drawn on the outside of the vase using a wax-like resist. When dipped in the satin-white glaze, the design resists the glaze. The wax resist is burned away during the glaze firing, leaving the pattern reversed out of the glaze, showing the underlying clay surface. The interior of the vase is glazed and therefore fully functional.
